Steffanie Jensen is an LMSW that specializes in betrayal trauma for partners of
sex/pornography addiction as well as working with those struggling with sex/pornography
addiction.
She loves working with people from all populations, has a passion for helping others
achieve their full potential, and build self-worth by helping them figure out the best
quality of well-being that they feel their life has to offer.
She feels strong empathy, compassion, understanding, and human connection with her
clients, and is able to help individuals move forward by applying evidence based
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Spiritual/Holistic Therapy. She believes that these six
areas of wellness are essential to bringing overall well-being to each person’s life:
physical, spiritual, mental, emotional, social, and self-care.
BETRAYAL TRAUMA AND SEX/PORN ADDICTION
Steffanie specializes in and has great passion and success working with individuals,
couples and groups struggling with:
Through individual, couples and group therapy, Steffanie is able to bring hope and
greater understanding to those suffering the effects of betrayal trauma and
sex/pornography addiction. Steffanie educates individuals and couples and assists them in
moving forward through the heartbreak and pain. She is able to offer hope to the
possibility of healing individuals and relationships by increasing safety/trust building
skills to repair the relationship.
To the partners suffering from betrayal trauma, she offers empathy, compassion, validation,
understanding, and hope. Steffanie facilitates the Hope After Heartbreak betrayal
trauma group for women to work on their own recovery.
To those struggling with sex/pornography addiction, she teaches skills and tools to help
them manage their addiction and provide safety training so they are able to rebuild trust
with their partner. She is also able to direct them to Centerpoint’s men’s Facing the Shadow
group and SA Lifeline 12 Step Meetings.
Steffanie also works with individuals with mental health issues, including:
Steffanie Jensen was born in SLC, Utah, and has also lived in Scottsbluff, Nebraska,
Idaho Falls, Idaho, and is a Madison High School graduate of our great town of
Rexburg, Idaho. She loves living in Rexburg and working with the locals as well as the
diversity of working with the Brigham Young University-Idaho students.
Before completing her degree, Steffanie taught piano and cello for almost 30 years. She
loves to play in the Idaho Falls or Rexburg symphonies when time allows, and listens to
music all day. Family is very important to Steffanie! She spends time with her family during
her free time, and loves being a grandma. She is married to her high school sweetheart, and has
4 children, three girls and one boy. They love to go camping, boating, traveling, and
playing games as much as possible with one another.
Tristan McAfee brings a wealth of experience to the mental health field, having served as a psychiatric technician, community-based rehabilitation specialist, and case manager. She has also played a vital role in suicide prevention through her work with Hope 4 Utah, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing youth suicide rates.
Tristan is deeply committed to suicide prevention, raising awareness about domestic violence, and supporting individuals dealing with PTSD, OCD, Bipolar I and II, depression, and anxiety. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Global Women’s Studies from Brigham Young University in 2022 and completed her Master of Counseling in Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling at Idaho State University in 2024.
During her graduate studies, Tristan gained hands-on experience interning at the ISU Meridian Counseling Clinic and Family Counseling Services. She developed expertise in both cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and internal family systems (IFS) approaches, which she integrates into her practice.
Tristan specializes in working with individuals aged 13 and older, with a particular focus on teens and older adults. She has a unique ability to help clients embrace all parts of themselves, recognizing that even the most challenging aspects have positive intentions when viewed through a compassionate lens. Her passion lies in addressing trauma and PTSD, utilizing an internal family systems approach to facilitate healing and growth. She is also dedicated to supporting clients through the grief associated with suicide loss or adapting to life with an acquired disability.
Tristan’s work is driven by her belief in the resilience and inherent worth of every individual, as she helps clients navigate their challenges and discover new pathways to well-being.
