I strive to live and work using this Mr. Rogers statement as my motto, “When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.” My goal is to help children, individuals, and families learn to identify their emotions and find ways to express them that are healing and serve as building blocks for healthy lives and relationships. When working with clients, I use a variety of therapeutic approaches to best meet their needs. However, I am passionate about play therapy and often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in practice.
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and received my Master of Social Work degree from Northwest Nazarene University. I also received a bachelor’s degree in Child Development from Brigham Young University, Idaho. During the second year of my master’s program, I worked as an intern counselor at Centerpoint for eight months and fell in love with the environment here. So, I am excited to rejoin the team. Until January 2023, I worked for Madison Cares, the mental health department of Madison School District, for six years. As a parent educator and Care Coordinator there, I worked with families to reach their children's developmental and social-emotional milestones. I also partnered with teachers and families to teach children coping skills, teach parenting classes, and coordinate the Madison Cares’ summer camp program and Madison Education Series.
