I believe that each individual brings personal strengths, assets, and resources to the table which will be the biggest factors in one’s self-discovery, growth, development/improvement, and emotional/mental healing. As a therapist, I appreciate the opportunity to be a guide, support, and “helper” in this process! I seek to provide a comfortable and safe therapeutic environment where trust and rapport can be established with my clients as a foundation for change and improvement.
I have counseling experience with children, adolescents, adults, and couples working with the following challenges/issues: depression, anxiety, mood disorders, panic attacks, stress, anger management, grief and loss, trauma, PTSD, sexual abuse, ADHD, pornography addiction, parenting, relational issues, and communication issues. I utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
I am working towards specializing in trauma counseling and have been trained in EMDR therapy from an EMDRIA-approved training program. EMDR is a well-researched approach that has evidenced long-term relief and healing from difficult traumas and can be achieved in a relatively short amount of time. I am also trained in and utilize EMDR therapy for recent trauma (RTEP) and group trauma (GTEP).
I graduated with a Masters in Advanced Clinical Counseling from Northwest Nazarene University and have been practicing counseling for 4 years. Prior to my counseling, I worked for 3 years in family-based mental health supports and services doing wraparound and case management.
